What a great tournament! As has become traditional, this was a tournament with some very good competition at all levels. More than one of the grades required 4 wins to even be in the trophies.
In the K-3 Section, Curtis showed his strength as he went undefeated into the last game. With 4 points, he took first place in his grade. Jack and Eli played well and had 3 and 2 points respectively.
In the 4-6 Section, Gabe played tough chess and defeated 4 of his opponents to win 5th Place. Elizabeth, Sarah, and Jake held their own against tough opponents, and each contributed two points to the team score.
The 7-8 Section was small and fierce. With a median score over 1000, and 5 players ranked 1300 or above, it was an excellent opportunity for our more experienced players. Emily was on her game, defeated only by the top ranked player, and took 2nd place in her section with 3.5 points. David played very well and came away with 3 points. Due to school matchups, Alexander ended up playing the most difficult players in the tournament and in some very close games won 2 points. All of our players played well and gave their opponents quite a challenge. Most all of the games were close, whether won or lost.
